My Siblings And I

Post a Comment
It's the three of us. Yes, we are siblings. I'm the middle child. I have an elder sister and a younger brother. Both of them live close to our mom in Jogja.

My Sister
It's so funny to remember our childhood. We were, actually, not good siblings. I seemed to always had arguments and fights with my sister. I didn't like her and I think that she didn't like me either. It's understandable as she's only 2 years older than me.

My sister and I shared the same room for years. We had a big table in our room for us to study. It was the only thing, I guess, that we agreed to share. The rest were things that we called 'mine' and 'yours'.

The next funny thing is I missed my sister once after she left home for college. She had to stay in Solo for her bachelor degree. She returned home once a month or so and that made me felt lonely. Then I started to miss her. And the feeling got bigger when she got married.

My sister is a tough person. She lives with her 3 children now in Jogja as her husband lives in Palu, Central Sulawesi to make a living. She'd been moving from city to city with her husband to support him, but, since 3 years ago she settles in Jogja due to her children's education. Her children need to settle in one place to pursue their study and she chose Jogja.

My sister is a working at home mom. She runs her crochet business. She's good at it. I think she's gifted with art. She won an award for her neat hand-writing when she was in elementary school. It was a sign, wasn't it?

My Brother
He's 3 years younger than me. My mom told me that when she was pregnant with my brother, I used to climbed up my mom's back while she cleaned our front yard. A baby inside the belly and a child on the back. What a picture.

My mom got an accident on her third trimester of pregnancy. Alhamdulillah, both the baby and the mother were safe.

As what happened with my sister, my relationship with my brother was not good either. We seldom had something to agree. Oh, I think I'm not a good sister.

My brother married a Sundanese 5 months after my marriage. That's why our children are the same age now. He has 3 children, but baby number 2 died while she was still in the womb. His first child is a girl, third one is a boy. Now he's waiting for his fourth baby.

My brother used to work in a telecommunication company but since last year he runs his fashion business with his wife. He's a strong person. He faces the world and he isn't afraid of the challenges ahead.

My siblings are great persons, I guess. Though we were not in good relationship in our younger years, however, as we grow older, we seemed to find our bonding. I learn much from them and perhaps they learn something from me as well.

Siblings are our lives because we share the same blood in our body. Good siblings bring us to jannah, insha Allah.

What about you, guys? What's your story with your sibling?
