Yes, We Stay At Home During Coronavirus Outbreak, But It's Not That Easy

stay at home

Hi, assalamu alaikum.

We've missed our local tourism destinations already. It's been 2 weeks since self quarantine announcement. It's so understandable why we miss them.

That morning, March 14, 2020, a same message came to WhatsApp groups of class 4 and 5. It said that school is off for 14 days starting from that day due to coronavirus outbreak.

My sons were very happy when they first got the news. But then, "For two weeks?"

"Yes," I said.

"I'm gonna be bored."

No school for 2 weeks but it's not holiday nor vacation. There are projects to finish everyday. Two projects for each day. And my sons have already got bored even with their computers and TV.

"I wanna go to masjid," asked Mr. Professor one afternoon.

"No, you can't. You have to do salah at home."

"But, I wanna go."

"You have to stay at home, no matter what."

He began to cry and his big brother, Mr. Inventor, calmed him down.

We discussed about it and I enclosed it with a hadith about getting  reward as a martyr (shahid) for staying at home while there's a plague around.

It's really not easy to stay at home with kids. Mr. Admiral always wanted to go out to play.

Sometimes I let him go out and play outside just for a while. I have to pursue him to get into the house.

Many more things to tell, but there is another surprise: no school days is extended until April 5 according to government's rule.

(Update: it's extended until April 19, 2020 -- but I'm not sure school will run normally on schedule)

Oh God. I hope we are all safe and healthy and the pandemic ends sooner.

"Where do you think we should go when Covid-19 pandemic has gone?" asked Mr. Inventor.

"I think we should go to Sarangan Lake. What do you think?" I said.

"What about we go to Duta Restaurant in Ngawi?" said Mr. Professor.

Mr. Admiral didn't say anything. He doesn't really understand what is going on. All he wants is riding in a car. Travel as far as we can. And whenever the car goes back home, he cries.

"I wanna take more ride..."

Aamiin.
