No Gadget Day, Day 1

No-gadget-day

Hi, assalamu alaikum.

No Gadget Day. Yeah!

Finally after several efforts to reduce the using of gadget, we proclaim a new program: No Gadget Day!

We agreed to celebrate our Monday and Thursday as No Gadget Day(s).

Wait. 'We' here means me and my husband. Kids don't agree much. But, as we are dictators (lol), we make them do that. Sorry, kiddos.

Okay, starting with this post I'll tell you what had happened during No Gadget Day, day by day, insha Allah.

Day 1. June 26, 2020.

Thank God there is corona virus. We stay at home 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Except my husband. He still goes to work for 10 hours per day on weekdays. He starts working at 8 to 5. But he initiates his office days by cycling.

Bike to work? No. He is really doing excersize by bike. He's been doing that since October 2019. And he has lost 6 kgs of his weight. Approximately 1 kg per month.

He looks better now. Healthier and shinier. Hohoho.... love that!

Okay. What happened on Day 1? It ran smoothly. Not perfect, but better than my expectation.

Before running this No Gadget Day program, I have managed a schedule for kids to play with gadget. Four hours a day. Two in the morning, two in the afternoon.

Gained some protests? Yes. But, I kept on going. Stick to the schedule.

Nobody cheated? Of course there were cheatings. Especially Mr. Inventor. But, he tends to understand better now.

That morning on D1, out of the blue I announced the program.

"Starting when?" asked kids.

"Today."

"What?? No wayyyy!!"

But, we did it.

Early in the morning I brought my three sons to walk. We walked around the paddy fields, walked further to the wet market.

We stopped to see lorries from sugar cane factory. Yes, we live near it. About 15 minutes walk.

The path we took was still quiet. Only a few people passed. We saw some birds on the paddy fields. It was awesome! Masha Allah.

Tired of walking, we took a rest at home. Having shower and chatting.

Mr. Admiral seemed to really enjoy the trip. He looked happy that day.

I made him a set of home supplies: dining table, a bed and a refrigerator from paper. It was Bubbu's house. A game character my kids love to play.

Mr. Admiral and Mr. Professor were busy playing those things.

Then we cooked lunch together.

Mr. Inventor grumbled pretty often, but I pretended not to hear him. Lol. He still helped me with the dishes though. No prob!

So, I think the keys to smooth No Gadget Day are:
  1. Give kids physical activity to drain their level of energy
  2. Give children creative activity
  3. Parents must not touch gadget either
  4. Stick to the rule
  5. Be patience, nothing comes good instantly.

Alhamdulillah. So far so good. Day 1 was a success. Hope we'll make it better next Monday. No Gadget Day, we are ready.

  2. physical activity is very important
it can limit our awareness on gadget

tapi ya kadang susah juga ya mbak karena aktivitas terbatas di rumah saja

but I think we mus try it
